RECHARGED: THESIS FILM
AUGUST 2024 — MAY 2025

Recharged is a short animation film that follows a small robot who must survive against nature. During preproduction, character concept designs, color scripts, and mock-up 3D designs for both characters and environments were created. The software used during production included Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, SpeedTree, Unreal Engine as well as Quixel.

ARCHITECTURAL EXTERIOR OF THE PAVILION MOLLIEN
DECEMBER 2023
I modeled the Pavillon Mollien for a personal project in Maya. The sophisticated architecture is so appealing, and this Parisian building helped me practice my detailing skills. The entire model took a few days, and the final renderings were created with Maya Arnold.
03
ARCHITECTURAL EXTERIOR OF ST. STEPHEN'S BASILICA
AUGUST 2023
As part of a modeling course, I recreated the exterior architecture of St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest using Maya. The complexity of this architecture, which contained multiple motifs, was visually appealing. During the weeks during which this project unfolded, I collected several references to meet the technical constraints. Translating the architectural details into 3D was a technical challenge but also a stimulating learning experience that allowed me to practice my time management skills.
04
STYLIZED CONCEPT ATTIC
AUGUST 2023
This cozy and nostalgic attic was created as part of a Maya modeling class. References were gathered before starting. I wanted to convey a sense of softness with the window lighting and create a sense of childlike wonder with all the toys surrounding the telescope. This environment took a few weeks to create and it was rendered with Maya Arnold.
05
HARD SURFACE "HANDIE-TALKIE" MODEL
DECEMBER 2023
To practice hard surface modeling, this World War II walkie-talkie was recreated in Maya using blueprint references. This model tested my topology and proportion skills. The model's colors in Arnold's final rendering were inspired by the real "walkie-talkie." For the final presentation, I was inspired by product advertisements and placed the model in such a way to create an appealing balance.
06
STYLIZED WINDMILL COTTAGE
SEPTEMBER 2023
This design is a combination of a cottage and a windmill, two rural structures whose presence in the landscape inspires calm. After gathering and analyzing references from Artstation, the basic shape and structure were modeled in Maya.
I used various sculpting brushes in ZBrush to create tiny cracks on the wooden beams, the roof pattern, and stone details on the chimney. The detailing process allowed for great creative freedom, so I spent a lot of time ensuring each part of the structure had its own special element, like a small crack or chip.
07
STYLIZED CLAY POT
AUGUST 2024
This stylized pot was inspired by a 3dEx tutorial (@3dextrude on YouTube) and took a few hours to finalize. The base was created in Blender and ZBrush was used to sculpt details like indentations and cracks. Finally, I added the textures and colors in Substance Painter. The pattern and colors were inspired by an ancient Aztec civilization. This little pot helped me practice my stylized modeling and texturing.
08
"MUSHI" CONCEPT CHARACTER MODEL
APRIL 2024

Meet Mushi! Inspired by a simple mushroom, I created this shy farmer for a character design project. His color palette is derived from calm earth tones, a reference to a mushroom's natural habitat. As mentioned above, his body was drawn from multiple perspectives, and expressions were created to bring his character to life.
Based on feedback from my teacher and classmates, Mushi's design was revised and improved. Once his 2D concept was finalized, a 3D character sheet was created using ZBrush. This project required a lot of creative thought and planning, but it was very rewarding to transform this 2D character into 3D.

SUBSURFACE DIFFUSION LIGHTING PRACTICE
FEBRUARY 2024
This scene was created to practice subterranean diffusion as part of a lighting course. All the models in this scene were sourced from free3D.io by @Dr.Otto but retextured and placed in Maya. I wanted to evoke a sense of elegance and class with the harmonious lighting and color choices. The round shapes of the vases, lamp and shadows lead the eye around to create a flowing sense of a composition.

FIREFLY MODEL AND RIG
NOVEMBER 2024
This six-legged creature is a firefly, and it was created in Maya as a character for my final film. I used several real firefly references and diagrams as anatomical guides. Its body has 27 controls in total for the wings, feet, antennae, head, and tail. The rig was a challenge because of all its different parts, but it was great practice and definitely taught me patience.
11
CONCEPT ROBOT MODEL & RIG
SEPTEMBER 2024
This bright red robot is called J-4. It was created for my thesis film project, Recharged. J-4's design was inspired by the robotic characters in Wall-E, one of my favorite childhood movies. Its color palette, a vibrant rusty combination of silver and red, was chosen to contrast with the lush green forest setting of my final film.
While its round design may seem simple, rigging this character was certainly a challenge. Resolving issues with its controls and joints required a lot of troubleshooting and testing. However, bringing my little robot to life has been rewarding because I can now animate and move it. I hope J-4 can also be a tribute to Wall-E, as it will soon star in its own film.

MINI LOW POLY ISLAND
DECEMBER 2022
This holiday getaway was created in Blender following a tutorial by @Heber Villalta on YouTube. I strayed a bit from the original idea and scattered my own pre-modeled elements throughout the scene, like crates and rocks. I hope this island evokes a feeling of relaxation, and I think everyone could use a little summer weather right now.
13
MINI ISOMETRIC KITCHEN
JANUARY 2023
Here's a cute little kitchen I made following a Blender tutorial by @artbytran_ on YouTube. The yellow palette is inspired by 70s kitchen designs, and the bright lighting adds to the cheerful feel of the scene. This tutorial helped me practice stylized modeling and refresh my Blender skills.

LADYBUG PREPARING FOR FLIGHT
JUNE 2023
ISO 100 | f5.6 | 1/250s | 55mm | 6000X400
From my bedroom window, I saw this ladybug sitting perfectly on a leaf and staying very still: a great subject for a photograph indeed! I used my digital camera, the Canon EOS Rebel T7, and did my best to frame the ladybug in the center. The weather wasn't great outside, so I took this opportunity to also practice setting my ISO and shutter speed.

LADYBUG AT REST
JUNE 2023
ISO 100 | F6.3 | 1/200s | 50mm | 6000X400
Mount Royal is full of insects in the summer, so I took the opportunity to practice photography. Photographing this ladybug was a challenge because it tested my technical skills to find the right lighting and focal length since it was tiny. Choosing the right shot also depends on creative composition, and it was a process of trial and error. The colors contrast perfectly with the leaves and plants in the green background.

MOTH BUDDIES
AUGUST 2023
ISO 50 | f1.8 | 1/451s | 50mm | 4624x3468
On another walk around Mount Royal, I used my Samsung phone to capture these two friends. Their contrasting orange and blue colors make them an excellent composition choice. These lovely subjects were also perfectly positioned on the small flower, and I decided to use a rule of thirds composition to help frame them.

RESTING BEETLE
JULY 2024
ISO 320 | F4.5 | 1/500s | 37mm | 6000X400
The last little friend here is a beetle, and it was found in my garden! I'd never seen this type of insect up close before, so I took the opportunity to photograph it using my Canon DSLR camera. Its shell shone beautifully, and there was a dotted pattern on its sides. This photo helped me practice adjusting my focal lengths and finding good lighting settings, as it was a cloudy day outside.
TRADITIONAL SCULPTURES
18
SCULPTURE LEFT AND RIGHT HANDS
FEBRUARY 2023
One of my first projects in sculpture class was recreating my hands. I chose a pose for both hands and took several photos from all angles to improve perspective and proportions. My favorite part was sculpting the joints and bone details because it brought the sculpture to life.
19
CLAY SCULPTURE SELF-PORTRAIT
FEBRUARY 2023
This self-portrait was created as a final project for a sculpture class. For a few weeks, I measured my face and analyzed anatomical references to recreate myself in clay. The in-class critique sessions helped me revise proportions, which was a difficult part. Sculpting fine details like the eyebrows and eyes was also a complex but soothing process. Each eyebrow and hair follicle was sculpted as additional details.
